I was born in Cape Town South Africa where I learned to dive and sail and developed her love for the sea. My first magazine articles and the chapter of a book on diving were published in South Africa. I sailed my home-built boat around the Indian Ocean and across the Atlantic, finally settling in Canada, where I live now and full time, contributing to many magazines. "Tahitian Affair" is my first novel. Sincerely, Dee Lighton Angie arrives in Tahiti feeling frumpy, fat and frustrated. She'd been in the hospital, with a SARs like flu, then through a long recovery, and it had taken it's toll on her. She wants to feel beautiful again and where better than Tahiti. However, once there, she feels more down than ever. Then one morning when she's walking by the quay, looking at the sailboats, a squall comes through and she spies a boat in trouble. Somehow its lines have come undone. Having spent many sailing vacations with her parents in the Caribbean, Angie knows just what to do. So without thinking, she leaps aboard the boat, makes the lines fast and then is accosted by the owner, a single-handed sailor named Luke, as he catches her leaving his boat. Not knowing she'd saved his yacht from considerable damage, he is rude and abusive, but to his credit, immediately contrite once he learns the truth. Luke is sailing his yacht around the world and has been in Tahiti for only a short time. He's just getting over a broken heart, having been dumped by his girlfriend, Suzi, who prefers her wealthy friends and her trendy Southern Californian lifestyle over life on a sailboat, no matter how fancy the boat. So when Luke asks Angie to move aboard for two weeks as cook and chief bottle washer for a semi-informal charter for two of his friends from California, she is at first hesitant, but she gives in and before long finds herself head over heals in love with Luke, and he appears to be falling in love with her. But then out of the clear blue, Suzi shows ups and all of a sudden Angie's world is in turmoil. She flees to an idyllic Polynisian island, but beautiful as it is, she can't keep Luke out of her mind. How could he be so cruel? How could she have misjudged him so? Or had she? Did she run away too soon? This is a romance that will take you to the most beautiful place on the planet as it touches your soul with it's story of love found, lost, then found again and it will leave you with a smile on your heart.
